Meet the latest CyPerf features and functionalities

A few months back I wrote a blog on the latest CyPerf features (here), and now I am excited to be back with another post on a brand new set of features and functionalities.

The CyPerf engineering team was working hard to enrich the product’s capabilities to make sure we are meeting customer’s needs and to proactively address the test challenges for the new highly distributed hybrid networks.

Through a new recent software update, CyPerf users can now benefit from the ability to generate highly realistic Zoom media conferencing support with QoE metrics, expanded SSL VPN client support (for Fortinet and F5) and enhanced traffic generation capabilities with DNS emulation, sleep/think actions, and playlist support in URLs. On top of that, we are improving the usability and user productivity with new features like Controller health dashboard (providing insights into the CyPerf Controller resource utilization like CPU and memory consumption), advanced filtering when searching for applications and attacks and many other UI improvements.

Next, let’s have a closer look at some of the top new features.

The key highlight of this release is the Zoom conferencing emulation. CyPerf users are able to generate both voice and video Zoom media traffic at scale with both client and server emulation (two-arm). This would enable use cases like quantifying the performance and quality of experience (QoE) across distributed networks like SD-WAN links or SASE deployments. QoE metrics include audio MOS score, video quality statistics and jitter related measurements. In addition to the pre-canned Zoom applications and configurations, users have also the access to parameterizable, granular actions like Sign in/Sign out, Join/Leave Meeting, Receive Audio/Video, Stop Sharing Audio/Video, .etc, to build unique, custom application flows.

Other important capabilities added in this release include DNS application emulation which can be combined with other applications for more realistic appmixes as well as a new generic Sleep action. The sleep action emulates user inactivity periods, can be added for any application, and can be configured either as a static value or with a random value within a predefined range.

To better support URL Filtering testing, users have also now the ability to configure playlists for the HTTP URL field. This would make the test iterate through a large list of URLs which can be imported as a .csv file and asses the Device Under Test (DUT’s) ability to block or allow transactions to selected destinations.

Building upon the previously introduced native SSL VPN client, now we support multiple vendors including Cisco AnyConnect, Palo Alto Global Protect, F5 and Fortinet. CyPerf can emulate tens of thousands of SSL VPN tunnels and run application and attack traffic through previously established VPN tunnels to test the scale, performance, and robustness of VPN Gateways.

These are just a few of the most recent additions to CyPerf, as we continue to deliver on our promise to transform network application and security testing.

Another exciting news is the enhanced version of the CyPerf Test Drive, which is now available for multiple regions and countries around the world, and it has a simplified user interaction!

The CyPerf Free Test Drive provides users an immersive experience of working with an actual CyPerf deployment and experiment first-hand its unparalleled insights into the performance characteristics and security posture of a real cloud infrastructure (in this case, we will use a Web Application Firewall—WAF).
